Congratulations to Past Commodore Darryl Morrison who has recently been awarded life membership of the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria.
The following resumé of Darryl's sailing career accompanied his award last weekend at the 2017 RYCV AGM.
'Darryl has served on the general and sailing committees over a number of years and was Director of Cruising. A highlight was the organization of the Melbourne Lord Island Cruise. He has sailed in over 160 Ocean races and has been placed in many.
His participation in Sydney Hobart races have been memorable including finishing the 1984 race in Justine 2.
He was appointed Head of the Cruising Division in Port Phillip and organized cruising at the Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club where he is a past Commodore.
He sailed for many years as a navigator with Professor David Scott at Royals where he is a member of the 21 Year Club.
He has been a member of The Royal Geelong Yacht Club for 57 years and still owns a racing yacht Andromeda 3, an Adams 11 metre. Unfortunately ill health and injury has curbed his sailing over the last 2 years.
I am greatly honoured to achieve the award of Life Membership from The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria.'
Congratulations to Darryl from everyone at QCYC.
