The New Year's Day Seafood Luncheon has been a much loved feature of QCYC for over 50 years. Its absence last year was rued by many and, in response to demand, Judy Hodgkins and Andrew Mitchell stepped up to the plate to organise the event for January 1st 2016.
Over 125 members and guests have now booked their seafood. Those South Australian prawns and oysters are now all accounted for and, unfortunately, bookings are closed.
Most of those attending are experienced P&O'ers and will know how to make this a fun and relaxing day, but if you haven't been before, the general outline of the the day is roughly (and remember the night before was New Year's Eve):
11:00 Drinks in the lounge bar (at usual bar prices)
12:15 Welcome comments from the Commodore
12:30 First servings in the Dining Room
Most members generally bring their own salads and desserts, and Judy will have the traditional QCYC seafood dressing flowing, as well as home grown lemons, and some bread to soak it all up.
If you haven't booked, you can still come along. Just bring you own lunch and enjoy the atmosphere. The outside barbecues will be available, but the kitchen is likely to be heaving.
Please remember that this is not a BYO event, and that all alcohol must be purchased from the Club bar.
