The Level 1 course is a basic guide to softball coaching, providing coaches with the expertise to coach at school and junior levels. It aims to develop practical coaching knowledge for the beginner softball coach. This is an integrated course that includes the ACC General Principles and Softball Specific components.
Level 1 is the minimum requirement for coaching eligibility at state championships in Queensland.
The Level 2 course is a more demanding course and acquaints the coach with the sport sciences and their application to softball coaching. This course is undertaken as three separate components: Level 2 Softball Course, Level 1 Pitcher/Catcher Instructors Course and the ACC Level 2 General Principles Course.
The Level 3 course is an advanced course designed to assist coaches to develop competencies necessary to work with athletes at the elite level. Advanced planning and training methods are covered and sport sciences are applied specifically to softball coaching. This course consists of a core component of several home study modules and an elective component of specialist courses including pitching/catching, offensive skills and defensive skills.
The Pitcher/Catcher Instructors Course is a progressive coach education program with courses at four levels. Coaches who complete all levels of this course will be able to teach the full range of pitching and catching skills to players at all stages of skill development to optimise their performance and skill potential. Minimum NCAS accreditation levels are pre-requisites for undertaking each level of the Pitcher/Catcher Instructors Course.
Following accreditation under the NCAS, coaches are required to full fill up-dating requirements over a 4 year period in order to keep their accreditation. Updating process.
