This weekend saw the final round of the 2018 Independent Boys Schools Competition. There were 290 games played across the season with no games lost to bad weather. There were some momentous games throughout the season including the first round played at Barker College as well as the first ever CAS vs GPS Presidents XVIII Representative Game. There were games played on Shore number one Oval, an Opens games played under lights at Sydney University and to cap off the season the last round games played on St Ignatius College Riverview’s first field.
There was a huge improvement in the skill of the players throughout the season and teams who were lucky enough to play each other twice felt as though they were playing brand new teams. The winners of the season were year 7/8 St Ignatius College Riverview, Year 9/10 St Aloysius who are champions two years in a row and Opens St Ignatius College Riverview #1 who also took out the cup for the second year in a row.
Congratulations to all teams who participated, and we look forward to seeing new schools and new teams in the 2019 season to continue the growth of AFL in the Independent Schools Boys Competition.
