Newly appointed SCBA Referee Manager - Ms Calia Hanks
You should now be noticing some major milestones being reached within the Sunshine Coast Basketball Association (SCBA). SCBA goals of establishing a well structured basketball Association for both Players, Coaches and Officials, is well and truly in place.
SCBA is proud to announce the appointment of our new Referee Coordinator - Ms Calia Hanks. We welcome the experience and knowlege that Calia brings as a high level referee, educator and administrator.
Calia now joins forces with SCBA Coaching Director Mr Darren Best, as two major contributors to the successful management of Referees, Players, and Coaching development at SCBA.
Calia's referee management skills are already making major improvements at SCBA
- Implementation of a Referee Committee - 2 representatives from each club
- Collating all three Clubs referees to one data base.
- Creating & managing the referee rostering systems for all venues
- Standardising the SCBA Referee pay rate into one manageable system - according to the referees accreditation level
- Communication systems - email and Facebook
- Applying for grants
- Liasion with BQ to run upgrade referee accreditation courses.
You will see Calia in person at your club at least once a week during your domestic competitions. She will be educating our new GREEN shirt referees, and coordinating all referee rostering.
Calia Hanks ...
- State level qualified referee/educator/coach & supervisor
- Previous experience - Brisbane Basketball Association Junior Referee coordinator/manager.
- Player history: QBL player from 2008 - 2011
- 2014 & 2015 Calia completed a 2 year Fitness Leadership & Movement scholarship in Canada
- Played & coached for the Keyano Huskies Basketball Club in Canada
- Returned to Australia in May 2016, moved to Sunshine Coast.
- Newly appointed Referee Manager and Educator for all three Clubs at SCBA - Caloundra, Maroochydore and Noosa!
