Tigers Sign Key Pair

The Willetton Tigers MSBL team received a double major boost over the holiday period with American based import Marcanvis Hymon & former Perth Redback Jackson Hussey agreeing to join the club for the 2019 SBL season.

Hymon is a 23 year old 201cm, 100kg forward from Ole Miss and coach Steve Black had this to say about the new import "Marcanvis is a high character individual who brings us leadership, toughness, rebounding and defensive versatility. I am excited for his ability to finish around the basket and be an interior scoring threat, and between Marcanvis and Moe Barrow we should have a premier defensive front-court to build around"

Hussey is a class player at SBL level with Black equally excited to announce his signing also by saying "We are extremely pleased to have a player of the calibre of Jackson. His all round talent and leadership has already been evident in pre-season and I am excited for us to utilise his playmaking and scoring abilities this year.

Black remained upbeat about the MSBL season ahead for the Tigers by adding "Our improved depth of young Willetton juniors and potential to be a very good defensive team is exciting and I love what we can become as the season progresses"

All Tigers home SBL games will be played at Curtin Stadium in 2019 as the stadium at Willetton undergoes a major redevelopment which will see the Willetton Stadium transformed into a new elite basketball facility.

Willetton Tigers CEO Mark Winnett made the following comments about the move to Curtin Stadium in 2019.

"With the major redevelopment happening at Willetton during 2019, I am pleased to announce we will be playing all our home SBL games at Curtin Stadium in 2019. I believe our loyal Tigers fans and local Willetton families and players will enjoy the family friendly environment at Curtin Stadium and we will be looking for them to get behind the Tigers teams and help us to turn Curtin Stadium into our new home fortress for next season. The facilities are excellent and this year we will be playing our Saturday night games at 5pm and 7pm in a more family friendly timeslot which will be exciting".
