The Willetton Tigers are pleased to announce that both MSBL Head Coach Stephen Black and WSBL Head Coach Simon Parker have agreed to new two (2) year extensions of their coaching contracts.

Both Tigers coaches were in the last year of their existing contracts and following on from recent reviews the club has moved to secure the services of both the coaches for the 2019 and 2020 SBL seasons.

Willetton Tigers CEO Mark Winnett said the decision to extend both coaches contracts was a relatively easy one for the club to make

“Stephen and Simon have done an excellent job with their respective squads in recent seasons, they are both very strong and committed Willetton people and the club sees them both in the upper echelon of coaches in the SB," Winnett said.

"Both coaches can now focus on the run home for this SBL season and prepare their squads for future seasons”.

Tigers MSBL Head Coach Stephen Black had the following to say about his reappointment

“I am honoured to continue to lead the Willetton Tigers into the 2018/19 season as Head Coach, the program means a lot to me and I am very proud of what our team stands for," Black said.

"The passion and sense of enjoyment our players and coaches bring to each day continues to fuel my love for basketball and I look forward to the continued opportunity to work with such a great group”.

WSBL Coach Simon Parker was equally as excited about the opportunity to continue to lead his young squad of talented women.

I am excited about the future of the WSBL program at Willetton and thank the Tigers for the opportunity to continue my role as head coach," Parker said.

"I’m passionate about the program, it’s been challenging building our own identity and culture but extremely rewarding.

"We have a talented group of local players and being able to continue to work with them will be fantastic!”

Both Tigers teams have a double header this weekend starting on Friday away to the Eastern Suns and then a home game on Saturday v Perry Lakes Hawks with a win needed to qualify the boys for finals action.
