Q & A with Kate Malpass

I caught up with Kate Malpass for a quick chat before the pre season game last week.

JH: Welcome back to Willetton, Kate. What have you been doing over the last year?

KM: Last year I went to Adelaide, where I played with Forestville in the Central ABL. We had a good season and I enjoyed my time there. I also trained with the Adelaide Lightning for a bit. Now I've come home to study. I am doing a physiotherapy course.

JH: How did you find the standard of basketball in Adelaide?

KM: I found it pretty similar to here. Forestville had a very similar club setup with junior development etc. The training was much the same, and the competition similar to our WSBL.

JH: How do you feel coming back to Willetton?

KM: I am excited. I am enjoying being back. We have a great group of girls and the training is good. It's great to have Rebecca Duke coming back too.

JH: What are your expectations this year?

KM: With the group we have this year I feel confident that we can make it to the grand final. Then we'll set our goals from there.

JH: I noticed you are coaching the U/13 girls this year.

KM: Yes. It's my first stint at coaching. It's interesting and different. I've got a good bunch of girls and I'm looking forward to it.

JH: Thanks for your time Kate, and best of luck for the season.

Join us in welcoming back Kate and show your support for all the Southlands Boulevard Tigers in the first home games for the season this Friday night, 28th March, starting at 6.30pm with tip off for the ladies and 8.30pm for the men.
