In August 2015 all the states respsective Minnow Associations agreed to the 2015 Measurement Addendum. This addendum contains changes to the minimum weight, foil construction and to the boom vang maximum purchase ratio. The purpose of these changes is to keep our Minnow class strong by making building one easier and cheaper, and to ensure a wide range of boats are competitive.
The change to minimum weight is the only change likely to affect existing boats. The weight change applies to all boats, including those previously measured. The minimum weight of a Minnow is currently 20.25kg. This will be raised to 21.25kg effective 25-Dec-2015, and then to 22.25kg effective 25-Dec-2016.
The first regatta which will be affected by this change is the Nationals in Dec/Jan in McCrae. If you are unsure as to whether your boat complies with the new regulations please contact Chris Schey (an approved Minnow measurer) at c.schey@optusnet.com.au . Chris will put you in touch with a Minnow class measurer nearest to you.
