Big V Round 3 Preview
BIG V SEASON 2009 WEEKLY PREVIEW ROUND 3:
DIVISION 3 WOMEN
Darebin Giants V Mornington Breakers
Sunday April 5, 1.00pm @ Darebin Community Sports Centre
MorningtonÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs impressive round two road win over Chelsea is sure to have their rivalsÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàattention, none more so than this weekÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs opponent Darebin.
The BreakersÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàdepth is sure to be a handful for the Giants, with Rachael Wansbrough (20.5ppg), Ange Heigh, and the Keet sisters all starting the season in inspired fashion.
It takes solid preparation and some good fortune to overcome a line-up of that calibre, and considering the Giants have to play the night before in Altona, they will be behind the eight ball before the game even starts.
Expect the Breakers to remain undefeated.
WEEKLY PREVIEW ROUND 3:
DIVISION 3 MEN
Mornington Breakers V Keysborough Cougars
Saturday April 4, 7.00pm @ Mornington Basketball Stadium
The job doesnÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂt get any easier for the winless Cougars, having to travel to Mornington to face the undefeated Breakers on Saturday night.
While the Breakers certainly looked susceptible in their season opener against Western Port ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàhaving to come from behind at three-quarter time ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂàthey showed ominous form last week in Mildura, smashing the Heat 113-74.
That doesnÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂt bode well for the visiting Cougars, who have gone down to McKinnon and Camberwell so far this season. While Vladimir Tankov (24 ppg, 12rpg) is sure to be the centre of MorningtonÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs attention, he will require plenty of support from his teammates if the Cougars are to secure an unlikely victory on the peninsula.
