Shepparton’s Maude Street Mall will come alive this Friday with Grand Final fever and community participation for the region’s first Free Footy Festival.
The Festival, delivered by AFL Goulburn Murray in partnership with AFL Victoria, the Victorian Government, Shepparton Show Me and the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce, will see a raft of activities to engage the whole family on the AFL Grand Final public holiday.
North Melbourne star Ben Brown, four time Hawthorn Premiership star and current Melbourne player Jordan Lewis and AFLW marquee players Bianca Jakobsson and Lauren Arnell will be attendance to meet and greet fans and be a part of an AFL Panel to dissect the Adelaide v Richmond Grand Final to be played the next day.
In a first for Shepparton ABC Kids superstars Hoot & Hootabelle will make a special appearance and perform two free live stage shows on the main stage during the day to entertain children and their parents alike.
There will also be kicking and handballing competitions and a special netball goal shooting competition which will feature Melbourne Vixen Kim Commane in an opportunity to test your skills.
The Mall will also feature giant inflatable football themed jumping castles for children to play on including the unveiling of an inflatable stadium which will surely be a massive winner.
To top the event off the first 1,000 children under 12 years of age to be at the Shepparton Show Me stage in the Mall from 10:00am will walk away with a brand new football.
One FM will be broadcasting live all day and Shops in the Mall will also be open with special offers and will declare allegiances for the Grand Final by dressing up in the colours of Adelaide Crows or Richmond Tigers.
