The Deakin Reserve Auskick Centre is hosting an All Girls group session with AFL Women’s Carlton player Sarah Last in attendance this Friday May 19 at Deakin Reserve.
Sarah Last, who was Pick 94 in the inaugural AFL Women’s Draft, will attend the session and talk about her transition from playing female football at Bendigo to hitting the big times of the AFL.
Sarah will also take the girls for some skill drills and give them some helpful points on kicking, handballing and marking.
In addition to the normal Friday night’s session at Deakin Reserve, girls from any other Auskick Centre in our region are welcome to come along on the night. Overall, close to 50 young inspiring female footballers could be in attendance.
Fiona Broughton and Jason Parker, the Deakin Reserve Auskick coordinators, are over the moon to see the girls having so much fun.
“We love being able to give the girls the opportunity to experience AFL football in an all-girls environment” they said.
“We look forward to Sarah visiting our centre and taking the time to talk to the girls about playing AFLW football”
“Every Friday night from 5.30pm the coffee van and BBQ can be smelt from all over the ground and makes for a great family night”
