The Murray Bushrangers have capped off a remarkable 2016 TAC CUP season with 10 players drafted onto AFL lists. Following 7 players being drafted in Friday’s National Draft a further 3 have been placed onto AFL lists via Monday’s Rookie Draft.
Talent Manager Lee Fraser said the number of players drafted highlighted the strength of football within the region.
“This draft is further evidence that we have a strong AFL culture throughout our entire region with our local clubs continuing to provide a platform for talented
and dedicated footballers”
Each player has a unique story and Fraser highlighted the strength of the people involved within the Murray Bushrangers program “Each player has built strong
relationships within our football club whether it be within the medical department, coaching staff or through our devoted volunteers”.
“In 2016 Ryan Garthwaite, Esava Ratugolea and Harry Morrison have been guided through injury management, rehabilitation and return to play programs by our medical and high performance team”.
“Uniquely talented players who are relatively new to the game such as Ratugolea, Todd Marshall & Max Lynch have benefited from specific ‘craft’ sessions by a highly
motivated and talented coaching group”.
Fraser said “The club has seen Will Brodie, Jy Simpkin, James Cousins & Zach Sproule enter the program as kids and leave the program as young men with a clear desire to play at the highest level”
“As you reflect on the unique opportunity presented to each of these outstanding young men we are extremely proud of the people within the football club”.
“We have an amazing staff that continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure each of our players reaches their potential”.
