AFL Goulburn Murray’s new Region General Manager has taken the reins.
After repatriating from Mumbai, India earlier in the month Martin Gleeson has settled in to his new office at Kialla Park Community Centre.
Taske with the role of leading the operations of the newly established AFL Goulburn Murray, Mr Gleeson’s role includes game development and supporting the leagues and clubs with their administrative functions.
“My initial focus will be that of market research to better understand the football landscape and current systems across the region" commented Mr Gleeson. "I am keen to meet with Commissioners, key league administrators and council staff over the next few weeks to increase my local knowledge as well as gathering local thoughts on the current state of play.”
"I will also be undertaking a review of the current operations of our affiliated leagues to gauge the current progress of our partnerships and get some feedback from their perspective. The ultimate aim will be to develop and build a consultative strategy to ensure football continues to grow and prosper across the region."
The AFL Goulburn Murray Commission will be the body responsible for game development including increasing participation, supporting leagues and clubs, development of volunteers, improving pathways from junior to senior football and to advocate and collaborate on facility development.
"Its an exciting time for football in regional Victoria" added AFL Goulburn Murray Commission Chairman Mr Nicholas Rolfe.
"The establishment of the Commission will allow a sharp focus and increased resources to be directed to growing the game and improving pathways and League and Club Administrative functions."
