Alexandra, Echuca and Mooroopna are the first winners of this season’s NAB AFL Auskick Centre of the Month Award proudly sponsored by Fonterra.
Alexandra
Jason and Annette Sutcliffe are the driving force for Auskick at Alexandra and form a formidable team with Jason heading the coaching and onfield organisation of the program each week with Annette looking after the administrative paperwork.
Since the Sutcliffe’s have taken over the reigns registrations have jumped from 45 to 67 in two years. This participation growth reflects their dedicated work and commitment to providing a quality coaching environment for their participants.
Jason and Annette are also very supportive of the new U10 program in the Seymour DJFNL and they have been instrumental in getting a team up and going for the first time this year. This team is providing a direct link between the Auskick Centre and the Junior Football Club enabling children to transition into junior football seamlessly.
Echuca
Led by Kane Henson, the Echuca Auskick Centre is going from strength to strength. Kane provided great support to the Auskick State Launch held in Echuca at the start of the season which engaged a number of senior footballer providing branding and recruitment for the club. As a result registrations received a nice boost to get the year off to a big start.
Kane coordinates an effective group of coaches and parent volunteers to deliver the program on Sunday mornings as well as regularly arranging half time grid games for the Echuca centre to be played during the half time break in Senior Football home games at Echuca.
He also promotes a fantastic extension program keeping young players involved in Auskick that had previously been dropping out, thus facilitating a much more effective transition to Under 12 football.
Echuca Auskick also provides an Under 10 team from the Auskick Extension program providing playing opportunities via the Goulburn Campaspe JFL Gala days.
Mooroopna
Michael Emanuelli’s enthusiasm and drive is a key factor in the success of the Mooroopna Auskick program.
In conjunction with the local NAB Branch Mooroopna Auskick conducted a Saturday morning BBQ early in the season which involved participants, parents and NAB staff members with giveaways provided amongst fun and engaging activities. It was a great way to kick off the program.
Under Michael’s leadership Mooroopna Auskick continues to be very well structured with coaches being well organised prior to each session so that they can maximise the learning opportunity for their 120 participants.
AFL Goulburn Murray, in partnership with Fonterra, is awarding a NAB AFL Auskick Centre of the Month award across the region for the 2016 season.
