As we enter the second half of the season some clubs are thinking about finals, others pondering what might be & others putting in place various measures for next year & beyond. Greg Liddell provides a run down on FDM activities over the past month.
- Conducting first stage of Health Checks with over 20 clubs in the GVFL & Kyabram DFNL.
- Supporting Interleague Football at senior & junior levels. This has involved support and organisational work for the GVFL and KDFL as well as particularly supporting Interleague Carnivals involving our Junior Leagues at the GCJFL Carnival at Rochester, Shepparton DJFL annual fixture against the Bendigo JFL at Mooroopna, as well as the Seymour DJFL Interleague games at Wangaratta
- Supporting Auskick Centres from the Goulburn Murray with their Little League & Grid games at half time of games at Etihad & the MCG.
- All Leagues within the Goulburn Murray region have had Accreditation checks conducted.
- 202 Reaccreditation emails and letters have resulted in 82 Coaches applying to reaccredit at this stage of the year.
- This year Goulburn Murray Coaches Association currently has 886 members on its Sporting Pulse Coaches Database.
- A day in Melbourne with a Metro FDM to train him on the Northern Coaches Assocaition Database was spent by Greg Liddell recently. A similar trip to Casey Fields is planned with an FDM and State director of Coaching in a few weeks.
- Collecting assessing and processing theory work for Level 1 senior, junior, youth and Auskick coaches courses involving 145 coaches. This includes producing Certificates and mailing them out to those coaches successful. At this stage there are 10 coaches yet to complete their work.
- Holiday programs at Echuca & Cobram are scheduled for the 2nd term holidays on June 30th & July 5th respectively.
- AFL Player visit by Carlton Football Club at Alexandra & also Melbourne FC in Shepparton have been well supported by schools & the media.
- On June 6th, along with our Footy Operations counterparts at AFL GM, a clean up and removal working bee was held to enable the sale of 24 Dunkirk Ave to become a reality.
- A working party involving Martin & the FDM’s and State Coaching Director Steve Teakel have met 3 times to initiate the development of a Coaching Strategy in the GM region. A 4th meeting is planned for July 4th.
- Sun Country Cup final was held at Deakin Reserve under lights with Nathalia SC/ St Mary’s Nathalia winning on percentage from Euroa and GV Grammar. All schools won a game on the night in an entertaining evening’s football. Rolling out the start of the SDJFL Junior Division, mentoring clusters.
- Sporting Schools Program (SSP) with now over 16 programs actively being involved and more to come in Term 3.
- School football across the region and across various levels has been well supported with pleasing numbers of teams participating.
- Involved with interleague set ups, coaching coordinator, coaches and equipment.
- The GV Giants Masters team & the first senior female’s team Shepparton Bears have been improving and showing good support from those sectors of the community.
- Various trips around the region by our FDM’s to deliver AFL Victoria footballs to schools as well as drop off resources for Auskick Centres and coaches have been delivered.
- Meetings with John Hook ( TAC Cup Manager) & Will McGregor (AFL Vic HQ’s) have been held at Kialla.
