The second game in the Championships will occur on Saturday 25 June as a curtain raiser to the Bendigo Pioneers vs Northern Knights TAC Cup game and will be played on the Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo. This game will commence at 10.20am against Central Vic Blue.
The championships then culminate in a round robin series in Mildura from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th June. The Goulburn Murray team will take on Central Vic Gold and the Sunraysia Academy teams in Mildura.
Coaches Luke Moodie and Cameron Stewart have been busy preparing the boys for the task ahead and are really looking forward to the challenge.
"It is really exciting to be able to implement everything that we have worked on since March and watch how well the boys can apply this under game pressure," said Stewart.
"We have also been able to promote five bottom aged players for the games which will be a fantastic opportunity to facilitate a developmental pathway that could take many of these players all the way to the TAC Cup" added Moodie.
AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager, Trevor Mellington is really looking forward to the chance to expose the players to higher level football opportunities.
"This is a really exciting opportunity for the boys involved to showcase their talents and put their names in the frame for selection in one of the two squads that will represent the Bendigo Pioneers region at the V-Line Cup Championships to be held in Gippsland in September" he said.
"Having our first two games either side of TAC Cup games represents a wonderful opportunity for our players to see, first hand, the performance that is required to play at this level."
"It is also great that our players, parents and supporters can be exposed to TAC Cup football as an integrated component of our program."
"It will be a great day to watch emerging talent and I encourage as many people as possible to get along and view some really strong representative football."
