We are now well into another football season which has been a very busy time for our Football Development Managers (FDM). Mark Lambourn provides a snapshot of development activities across the past month.
- Start up of all Senior and Junior football competitions.
- State Auskick launch at the Port of Echuca.
- Start up meeting for all of our Auskick centres and sorting and distributing of start-up packs.
- Delivering level 1 senior, junior, youth and Auskick coaches courses involving over 120 coaches.
- Continue to monitor and supervise the AFL GM Academy squads, this includes training, games and apparel.
- Coordinate our Auskick Centres grid and Auskick games at Etihad.
- Holiday program at Guthrie Street Primary School.
- AFL Player visit by Essendon Football Club at Numurkah
- SDJFL coaches night with guest speakers Leon Higgins and Lee Fraser
- A successful Boot Bank campaign.
- Sun Country Cup regional trials, Winners being St Mary’s Nathalia, Euroa and GV Grammar with the Grand final to be held at Deakin Reserve 24th May.
- Rolling out the start of the SDJFL Junior Division, mentoring clusters.
- Sporting Schools Program (SSP) with now over 10 schools actively being involved and more to come in Term 3.
- Clinics in schools to promote junior football and Auskick registration.
- Involved with interleague set ups, coaching coordinator, coaches and equipment.
- Working along side Valley Sports Megan Carr whilst on secondment in Trevor Mellington’s absence.
- Seeing the first Masters club in Shepparton GV Giants starts its inaugural year.
- Seeing the first senior female’s team Shepparton Bears start its inaugural year.
- Work with SEDA students to obtain their Level 1 junior coaching accreditation.
- Sporting Schools Victoria (SSV) U12 school boy’s trials in Benalla.
