Interleague is back with a bang this weekend as the 30th Goulburn Campaspe Junior Football League (GCJFL) Interleague Carnival will be held at Moon Oval, Rochester on Sunday 15 May with the first game to commence at 9am.
With 19 teams representing five different Leagues in four different age groups the event is the largest on the Goulburn Murray’s football calendar.
GCFL President David Trewick views this event as an important showcase for the League.
"The interleague carnival is a massive event on our calendar and I am really pleased that it has once again been strongly supported by the local Leagues" he said.
"We moved the Carnival to Rochester last year and it was a big success so I am looking forward to a big day watching all of the talent on display from across the region."
"As a league we are also grateful to our sponsors, especially our major event partners Fonterra and Moama Bowling Club, whose support makes the carnival possible."
The Carnival is an important opportunity for talented juniors to showcase their skills according to AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson.
"The opportunity for players to represent their club and their League in competition is a fantastic one which profiles the best talent in community under age football" he said.
"The standard of play is always very high and the level of organisation behind the scenes is extensive to make sure the day runs smoothly."
"The introduction of the AFL Goulburn Murray Academy this season adds extra status to this carnival with the games providing the Academy selectors with the opportunity to view the region’s best talent competing against each other as they start to prepare their squads for 2017 programs."
