AFL Goulburn Murray, in conjunction with Essendon Football Club, will host an official function at Kings Park, Seymour on Thursday 3 March as part of the AFL Australia Post Community Camp.
The full squad playing in the NAB Challenge against Geelong on Saturday 5 March will be in attendance along with the club’s coaching staff. A once in a lifetime opportunity could see you sitting next to Adam Cooney, Joe Daniher or new club Captain Brendan Goddard or even the coaching staff of John Worsfold, Mark Harvey or Guy McKenna whilst enjoying dinner, drinks, player interviews and other activities.
AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson is looking forward to the Bombers coming into the region.
"The Australia Post Community Camp program is an important part of the AFL’s community engagement program" he said.
"The Essendon Community Camp will encompass community based activities in Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford and Seymour on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 March."
"It will be a great lead in to the big clash on Saturday at Deakin Reserve with Geelong and Thursday night’s function will involve the playing squad and coaching staff for that game with players distributed amongst the tables to sit with fans and be able to interact with them in a social and informal manner."
"There will also be a raffle and some auctions on the night to help fund raise for the development of the game locally."
AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager Greg Liddell sees the function as a crucial component of the two day camp.
"There will prizes, raffles and auctions on the night and not only will you have the chance to get up close to your favourite player but also to walk away with signed merchandise along the way" he said.
"The function will be a highlight of the two day Community Camp but other activities include visits to community organisations, school visits and a training session at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton on Friday afternoon."
"Along with our AFL Player Appearance program the Australia Post Community Camp provides an up close and personal opportunity for football fans to meet the elite athletes of our great game in a more social and relaxed atmosphere."
