The Murray Bushrangers have finalised it’s 2016 coaching group with 10 Assistant and Development Coaches appointed to support the TAC CUP program. First year coach Leon Higgins has been working with the group for the initial stages of the Pre-Season as the squad prepares for the it’s 2016 campaign.
Higgins was pleased to confirm that the majority of the coaching group were into their 3rd and 4th years within the program. “Ben Davey, Adam Mudra & Ross Hill will remainas senior assistant coaches, each of these men bring great values, experience and skill to the program and they have driven a lot of the planning and sessions this preseason”.
The club continues it’s investment in Development coaches with Mark Brown, Peter Sheehan, Justin McMahon and OMFNL & Wangaratta Rovers legend Robbie Walker entering his first year of coaching in the TAC CUP.
“The Development Coaches are critical to program, they each provide great insight and mentoring particularly to the bottom age players who are entering their first year at this level”. “Peter Sheehan, Mark Brown and Justin McMahon are fantastic football people who are always looking to learn and passing that information on”. “It is great to have Robbie Walker involved, his football record speaks for itself but even more important is his passion for working with young footballers, he has settled in perfectly”.
Specialist Coach and former Adelaide Crows star Peter McIntyre will continue to manage the clubs talls program. “The big kids can take a while to develop and Pete has had great success in recent seasons particularly with players such as Dougal Howard (199cm), Mitch King (200cm) and Kyle Galloway (208cm) who have all made their way onto AFL lists”.
The Murray Bushrangers Thales leadership program will continue to be overseen by Laurie Hammond who brings a wealth of coaching and mentoring experience to the role. “Laurie has been involved in the TAC CUP for over 22 years, he is a great person to be working with our young emerging leaders”.
The Murray Bushrangers Pre-Season squad will continue training until Thursday December 18 before having a break for Christmas, the squad will then return on Sunday 10 January.
