After an intensive training and selection program over the past month the Goulburn Murray VLine Squad was reduced to 65 players after last night’s intra squad practise match at Wanganui Secondary College.
The introductory squad of 114 has been involved in training and selection across four sessions with a combination of skill development and game sense training.
Head Coach Scott Watson has been impressed by what he has seen so far “it has been a delight to have the opportunity thus far to work with such a committed and talented group of coaches and administrative support persons from AFL Goulburn Murray for the 2015 GM Schoolboys campaign” he commented after training.
“The tough job of cutting this list back to 65 or so has happened for the next phase of the program scheduled to commence on 18 May.”
“With over 110 boys from all over the Goulburn Murray the dedication of families in supporting their boys by getting to training and practice match commitments has been very inspiring.”
“The standard at training has been impressive so far” added AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager Greg Liddell “its always difficult to make a selection cut and the coaches have thought long and hard before making their decisions.”
“The next phase of the program will commence in two months time as we are conscious of the fact that selected players have club football commitments and its important they focus on a strong start to their football season before coming back together as a squad.”
