After an extensive recruitment process AFL Goulburn Murray is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Devine as the organisation’s new League Operations Manager.
Devine, currently the Competitions Manager with AFL Queensland, beat a quality field of local and interstate candidates and will commence in the new role on Tuesday 27 January. The League Operations Manager role has been established following the Goulburn Valley Football League’s decision in November to join the Region Administration Centre.
"Joining AFL Goulburn Murray is an exciting new challenge for me and one that I am really looking forward to" commented Devine. "I hope to be able to provide as much support as possible to club volunteers and administrators and to continue to evolve the operations of the leagues in the Administration Centre."
"To be able to develop a close working relationship with such a renowned league as the GVFL into their next phase of management is an opportunity come true, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running."
AFL Goulburn Murray Chairman Nicholas Rolfe is looking forward to Devine joining the team. "Simon beat a high quality field who applied for the role" he noted "whilst his primary focus will be on the GVFL, he will also provide competition management leadership for the KDFNL and the Shepp District and Seymour District Junior Leagues."
"Simon has established himself over the past two years in managing 16 senior competitions across south east Queensland including budgeting, the Fox Sports Pulse system, permits, transfers, tribunal and events and this experience will stand him in good stead to drive the administration of the RAC’s member Leagues."
"Simon was also the Umpire Development Officer for AFL Gold Coast and AFL Queensland and has extensive experience working with club volunteers and administrators over the past seven years."
"His employment experience complements his playing career in the QAFL and his Business/Sports Management Degree."
"Simon’s appointment is the important first component of the RAC’s 2015 structure" added AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson. "We have been working over the past six weeks to set up the most effective operational structure to service our members and the League Operations Manager role was the first priority to get right."
"Personally I’m looking forward to Simon commencing in late January as this service structure can now come together for the benefit of all clubs."
