The region’s newest football team, the Goulburn Valley Stars will make their debut in the Access All Abilities football and netball carnival to be held on Wednesday 3 September at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
Commencing at 10:30am eight netball teams and four football teams will each play a round robin competition celebrating the Access All Abilities messages encouraging play, participation and community connection.
As well as the GV Stars, Wimmera Whippets, Wangaratta and Wodonga Jets will make up the football division and Kalianna KBees, Wimmera Whippets, Belvoir Wodonga 1 & 2, Wangaratta City (Bendigo), Wangaratta 1 & 2 and Echuca Rockettes will make up the netball competition.
"This initiative started as an idea between Netball Victoria and AFL Goulburn Murray to promote Access All Abilities and provide an opportunity for participation" notes Netball Victoria North Region Development Manager Pam Ferrari. "Its an exciting concept and I’m really looking forward to it coming to fruition next Wednesday."
The GV Stars, a joint partnership between AFL Goulburn Murray and Valley Sport, have been steadily building progress over the past few months.

"The team is a great initiative and the couple of training sessions that we have had have been well attended and the enthusiasm amongst the players is terrific."
