Kyabram P-12 College held on to defeat Goulburn Valley Grammar by two points in a tense final quarter on Tuesday night under lights at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton.
Playing for the perpetual Goulburn Murray trophy, the game was tight all night with the defences of both teams well on top.
Goals were at an absolute premium, particularly in the last quarter as the wind and rain arrived and swept across the ground.
GV Grammar was left to rue some early opportunities to put extra scoreboard pressure on the opposition, whilst Kyabram demonstrated the value of persistence to gradually peg bag a small deficit and ultimately gain the ascendancy.
For the victors, Connor Cowley was awarded the medal for Best on Ground after a consistent four quarter effort playing through the midfield. Tom Pendlebury was adjudged the player of the night for GV Grammar.
