The AFL Goulburn Murray Commission released a working paper for its first Strategic Plan at the conclusion of its first Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday night at Kialla Park Community Centre.
Nicholas Rolfe, the Commission’s Chairman highlighted the AFL Victoria seven key development objectives as being the crucial cornerstone for the development of the Plan with stakeholder engagement critical for its success.
"Peter Jackson’s review of country football clearly identified the need for change in the administration and governance of the game. The local working party, consisting of representatives of each League in the Goulburn Murray region, adopted the concept of the Regional Commission The Commission would, amongst other services, offer a fee for service arrangement to the various stakeholders to administer their leagues and in the case of the Umpires their Association."
"Unfortunately, there has been a marked reluctance by some stakeholders to fully adopt the concept. Given the findings of the working party, this has proved to be a disappointing outcome for local football."
"The working paper for the Strategic Plan has been provided to all clubs via their league executive. The request is for each club to table the paper at a committee meeting and then bring their comments and thoughts to their next delegates meeting at which club and league feedback will be sought."
"The Strategic Plan will drive the direction of the Commission over the next three years and this crucial feedback period provides an opportunity for clubs to have input and shape that direction."
Following the sessions at each delegates meeting over the next five weeks, the Strategic Plan will be finalised and released.
