After a training Program which commenced in November the Youth Girls team which will represent the Goulburn Murray in the 2014 V-Line Carnival commencing 7 April in Melbourne has been selected.
The team was announced after a trial game against the Ballarat Regional team played at Heathcote on Sunday.
Echuca Premiership coach, David Pearson will lead the team and he is looking forward to the upcoming challenge "the practice game against Ballarat gave us a really good insight as to where we are at as a team. They have been the benchmark team for the past two years and our girls were more than competitive. We are really looking forward to testing ourselves against Bendigo on 7 April at Preston City Oval."
Pearson will have great support in his role with the experience of other Youth Girls Coaches in Mick Power (Assistant Coach) and Brittany Tancred (Team Manager). All three are active coaches in the Shepparton District JFL Youth Girls competition and will provide excellent leadership for all of the players.
The team will also come up against Geelong on 8 April at Bulleen Park and results over the two days will determine the team ranking moving in to finals on Wednesday 9 April at Bill Lawry Oval Northcote.
With Youth Girls catering for girls from ages 13 to 18, the team is an even spread across this full range. The inclusion of four academy players in Echuca’s Alana Long, Kelly Shotton and Alyx Glanville and Kyabram’s Alex Mulcahy adds quality and experience to the squad.
