The Shepparton Notre Junior Football Club was unanimously voted into the Shepparton District Junior Football League at their Extraordinary General Meeting held on Tuesday 11 of March. The new club is the result of a merger of Notre Dame Junior Football Club and Shepparton Junior Football Club.
The newly merged club will enter two teams in the SDJFL Professionals Under 14 competition, one team in each of the two Under 16 divisions and also a Youth Girls team. Shepparton Notre Junior Football Club president Will Phillips "is excited by the new entity. We are looking forward to watching the kids get out there playing and enjoying their football. We are appreciative for the support shown from the parents and the Shepparton Football Club "
The SDJFL Executive has supported the newly merged club during the process and submission period, with all clubs supporting the merger.
SDJFL President Chris Thomas "welcomed the new club, fully supportive of the new venture".
"Notre Dame has a long respected history of U14 and U16 football during almost 30 years of school-based football competition. Along with other Shepparton based GV clubs, the Bears have just commenced last season with their U14 and U16 teams".
"This new merger club brings together the spirit of tradition and the club structure support, to join the other GV clubs in this vibrant competition".
"We look forward to more new players joining the new merger club, and being part of the inaugural derby game at Deakin Reserve".
The first inaugural derby game will be on Round 1 on 6th April when Shepparton Notre play Shepparton United in the clash of the co-tenants.
