West Coast Eagles Assistant Coach and ex-Katandra player David Teague will be the chief guest at the annual Goulburn Murray Coaches Association (GMCA) dinner to be held at the Barooga Sports Club on Wednesday 25 September.
This is the 26th year of the gala dinner and it is the feature event on the GMCA calendar. The primary focus for the night is to acknowledge and celebrate the work and efforts of coaches at all levels within the region.
18 coaches have been nominated by their respective clubs and leagues as worthy of the title of "Coach of the Year" with awards in the categories of Auskick, Junior, Youth and Senior.
The winners of each award will represent the Goulburn Murray Coaches Association at the State AFCA (Australian Football Coaches Association) Dinner to be held in the MCC Members room at the MCG on Friday November 8th.
Over 150 people will attend this year’s event and with 859 members the GMCA provides an important support, communication and resource for football coaches.
The nominees are:
Auskick - Travis Eddy (Gowrie St), Glenn Murray (Rochester), Scott Watson (Euroa).
Junior - Darren Cook (St.Mary’s Seymour), Wayne Jackson (Numurkah), Peter Ryan (Kyabram).
Youth - Vin Edwards (Violet Town), Steve Hedger (Alexandra), Trevor Lindberg (Mathoura), Jamie Madgwick (Mooroopna), Phillip McIntyre (Cobram), Matthew O’Sullivan (Seymour), Paul Sidebottom (Tungamah), Leo Tenace (Echuca).
Senior - Christian Barnett (Merrigum), Matthew Maddison (Dookie), Luke Morgan (Benalla), Damian Sexton (Finley).
