"Its an exciting time for the development of the sport in the region" notes Region General Manager Martin Gleeson. "We have three high quality people who know the game really well and have a great collective football playing, coaching and development experience."
"The Commission is really focused on the development of football at all levels and our emerging structure is being built to best serve the sport’s volunteers, administrators, coaches and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible participation opportunity."
"To assist with meeting the needs of football across the Goulburn Murray, the three FDMs will each take a ‘zonal’ approach to their work. Whilst not an absolute, this approach will provide the best opportunity for clubs to be serviced in the most effective manner."
After over 10 years flying solo as the Region Development Manager in the Goulburn Murray Greg Liddell is relishing the new opportunity. "The increased resourcing will allow us to be more concentrated in our work and I, for one, am really looking forward to spending more time in areas that need attention."
"From Auskick programs through to coaching and volunteers its important we are able to identify areas that need attention and then be able to work with clubs to give them assistance."
Trevor Mellington joins the Goulburn Murray after five years working in the Central Murray. "I’m really looking forward to establishing new relationships with all stakeholders across the Goulburn Murray Region."
"I am very excited by the introduction of our Youth Girls competition this year and we are already looking at ways to attract more participants to this fantastic growth program within our industry."
"It is going to be rewarding building new networks across, schools, clubs and leagues to assist with all areas of development."
Mark Lambourn, who recently joined the ranks, is the relative newcomer to the team. "I’ve settled in really well and it’s a very exciting time to be involved in country football."
"I am looking forward to the new role and working with the leagues, clubs, schools and programs that I shall now be responsible for."
