Tatura Park has won the hosting rights for the first time for the 2013 KDFNL Grand Final to be held on Saturday 21 September.
The decision was handed down at last night’s club delegates meeting held at the home of AFL Goulburn Murray. The Bulldogs home venue was chosen from a number of tender applications across the region.
KDFNL President Greg Watson was pleased with the tender process and happy with the outcome "Tatura won from a keenly contested field and it’s a great result for the League’s showpiece event."
"Tatura did an excellent job as host of both the KDFNL and Picola District interleague matches in May. The work from club volunteers and the support of their committee ensured the event was smoothly executed leading into and on the day."
"The playing surface at Tatura is currently in great condition and they also have excellent off field facilities and infrastructure for spectators at the ground."
"Our Grand Finals in both the football and netball competitions are our major showcase for the League and we want to make sure that all is in place to maximise the playing and spectator experience."
Watson also paid tribute to Mooroopna as the host of the past three KDFNL Finals. "Mooroopna has been a great venue for our Grand Final for the past six years and now its Tatura’s time to work with us to set the standard of a great event for the League and the region."
"This is also the first year for us having a final six and it will be great to have one extra team experience the finals action and atmosphere. The competition is very tight at the moment and it looks like the race for the finals may well go down to the last round."
The first week of finals sees the Elimination matches to be played at Lancaster on Saturday 31 August and Merrigum on 1 September. The semi finals will be held on 8 and 9 September at Avenel and at a venue to be confirmed respectively. The preliminary final will be hosted by Girgarre on Saturday 15 September.
The KDFNL will also have a Zaidee Round on the weekend of 13 and 14 July to coincide with the AFL’s promotion with all competing footballers and netballers to wear rainbow coloured shoe laces to promote organ donor awareness.
