Nominations for the 2013 Goulburn Murray Coaches Association Coach of the Year have been called for.
Awards across five categories are available to recognise the significant contribution of coaches to the conduct and development of football across the region.
"This is the 26th year of the awards and they are a key tool to recognise the achievements of coaches who give quality service to the game" notes AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager Greg Liddell.
"The role of the coach is to foster enthusiasm for and interest in the game for their players, give quality value to the goals and purposes of the game and to promote and facilitate the healthy mental and physical development of the players."
"These awards highlight these facets and clubs are encouraged to nominate their top quality coaches to their League so that their coaches can be recognised and nominated."
Greg Shannon, President of the Goulburn Murray Coaches Association, sees the awards as a pivotal contribution for the Association. "The Goulburn Murray Coaches Association represents almost 850 member coaches across the region and as well as providing regular newsletters, coaching seminars and coach education programs, these awards are a pivotal way to profile some of the quality coaches working diligently in the sport."
"All currently accredited coaches are eligible to be nominated with the winners of each League to be submitted to the Coaches Association by 11 August."
"The awards will be presented at the Annual Coaches Dinner at the Barooga Sports Club in AFL Grand Final week."
