Last year’s Premiers ‘Launch It’ will face off against ‘Foott Waste’ in this season’s AFL 9s Grand Final to be held on Wednesday 17 December at Kialla Park with kick off at 6:30pm.
‘Foott Waste’ qualified for the Grand Final with a stunning come from behind win against the more fancied ‘ADES’ in last week’s Preliminary Final. The experienced Foott Waste outfit held their nerve and the weight of expectation proved too heavy for the young ‘ADES’ team in the second half.
‘Launch It’ have had the luxury of quality performers across the field with Brett Bartman, Greg Clohessy and Macey Suratman leading the way all season. Their performance against a gallant but outclassed ‘Shepp United’ in the 1st Preliminary Final firms them as red hot favourites for the Championship.
"Next Wednesday’s Grand Final is the pinnacle of the second season of Shepparton’s AFL 9s competition which commenced in early October" noted AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager Mark Lambourn. "The competition has grown since its inaugural season last year as a fun and exciting version of our great game."
"Whilst being a social competition there have certainly been many competitive and memorable moments and the standard of play has continued to grow each week."
"All competing teams should be congratulated for their participation and performances and the evenness of the competition has seen some exciting finishes and great highlights."
"I’m sure the game will be played in high spirits and high standards and people are encouraged to come along and see the newest format of footy."
