AFL Goulburn Murray’s Schoolboys and Schoolgirls programs are seeking applications for suitable coaches for 2015.
The 2015 VLine Cup (U15 boys) and Subway Shield (U17 girls) competitions will be held during the September school holidays as a lead in to the AFL Grand Final. Also, as a first, the competition will be held outside Melbourne with Latrobe Council hosting this first step in the AFL’s player pathway.
For 2015, the following volunteer coaching opportunities exist:

For VLine Cup the program will commence in March with the Head Coach able to design the selection and training program in consultation with AFL Goulburn Murray staff.
For Subway Shield the program will run in concert with the region’s Youth Girls Academy.
In consultation with AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Managers, Head Coach responsibilities include:
+ Plan and execute the team selection and training schedule
+ Take responsibility for the development of players in the program – as footballers and as quality citizens
+ Take responsibility for the team game plan in line with Murray Bushranger and Goulburn Murray philosophies
+ Coordinate Assistant Coaches with respect to game plan, duties, etc
+ Attend relevant interleague and club games for selection purposes
+ Be the media and public relations contact for the respective team
The successful applicant will require:
+ A minimum Level 1 Coach Accreditation
+ A current ‘Working with Children’ check
+ Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with a varied range of stakeholders, including players, parents, club and league officials.
The VLine Cup and Subway Shield programs provide integral player development for talented boys and girls in the region. Along with player development, the programs also provide an important link in the coaching pathway with opportunity to impact on tomorrow’s footballers and leaders.
