Broadford Football Netball Club has failed in its bid to join the KDFNL for 2015 after a vote of clubs at last night’s Special Meeting.
The current Riddell District Football Netball League club applied to join the League in September after their own internal process concluded a change was necessary.
Following a presentation by Broadford FNC officials the application was discussed in depth by clubs in an open forum before a vote was held.
Speaking after the Special Meeting KDFNL Greg Watson was circumspect on the outcome. "Under our constitution clubs applying to join the League need a seven tenths majority of votes from clubs and the executive to be accepted" he explained. "When it came to the vote the clubs were unanimous in voting to retain the status quo."
"Amongst the discussions the key issues expressed by clubs were the increased travel and a concern on the fit of the town in relation to population size and growth, both in the short and long term."
"To the credit of the KDFNL clubs they gave the Broadford delegation a fair hearing and it was clear that clubs had weighed with consideration the pros and cons of their inclusion."
"It is also important to acknowledge the Broadford club and their representatives for the way they have conducted themselves throughout this process. They have been professional, open and willing in their dealings with the League and on behalf of the League I wish them the best of success for their future."
