Flying Athletes at Micronesian Games
Big crowds gathered to watch the fastest men and women of Micronesia take to the track in Palau last night and they weren't disappointed with some great results from the Micronesian athletes. First it was Yvonne Bennett of the Northern Mariana Islands who was far and above the superior athlete of the women's 100 metres when she ran a time of 12.61 to set another National Record.

Bennett and Howard Make it Double Gold in Palau
Northern Mariana's Yvonne Bennett took out the double tonight at the Micronesian Games when she won the women's 200 metres in a time of 26.41. And while Bennett was busy being the female sprint queen of the Games it was Chuuk's John Howard who also took the out the double in the men's 100 and 200 metres when he beat the Marshall Islands' Roman Cress in the 200 metre event. John ran 22.86 to take out the men's event.

Track and Field Day 1
The first day of track and field at the Micronesian Games started under wet skies in Palau. First up on the field was the women’s pentathlon long jump, where Northern Mariana’s Jacquelin Wonenberg took an early lead over Palau’s Pellma Hesus which Hesus was never able to recover from. Jacquelin went on to take out each of the five events in the women’s pentathlon for a winning score and personal best of 2308 from Pellma who scored 2011.

10km Road Race at the Micronesian Games

This morning saw the first day of competition for the athletics at the Micronesian Games in Koror, Palau. Sixteen men and women took off under sunny skies in the gruelling 10 kilometre road run.
