Both teams were closely matched and had good spikers and well trained setter’s. The 1st set and 2nd sets were won by Palau (27-25, 25-11) , Guam fought back in the 3rd to take and the 3rd and 4th sets (25-22, 25-18). In the final set Palau turned it around again and fought hard to win the 5th set and the match 15-11.

A highlight of this match was the spiking from both teams. At times undefendable and many points scored.

Pohnpei had a really good first set but CNMI couldn’t save it, even though CNMI tried to take the lead.
CNMI tried to set the ball but the ball hit the net, so the score went to Pohnpei. Pohnpei spiked the ball and it landed close to the outside line, but the ball was saved.

On July 23, 2018, a second match was played between Pohnpei and Guam. The game was wonderful, because there were lots of hustling and well-practiced sportsmanship. Guam won all three sets of the game. And so, in the end the winner was the team of Guam.

The 3rd match of the women volleyball game was played between Kosrae and Yap. Both teams received lots of cheering from the crowds and, they display good sportsmanship during the game. There were 3 sets in all, which was all won by team Yap, and therefore the winning team was Yap.

On the 8th day of the microgames, a women volleyball game was played between Palau and Marshall. The game was fun and exciting to watch, and there were cheering from both sides of the team. Throughout the game Marshall won all three sets, and therefore the Republic of the Marshall Islands won the game.

The second last game of the day was Palau vs. Chuuk (Women’s), and the only other 3-0 game of the day. The first set was comfortably taken by Palau, winning it 25-19. Though Chuuk played better in the last two, they were unable to take a set off Palau, losing the second 25-17, and the third 25-12. Giving Palau a 3-0 win.

A thrilling win to Guam 3-2 but a toughly fought contest until the final point. In was a spectacular game to watch, Guam took the first set 25-23 and Yap regrouped to take the second comfortably 25-15. Some athletic work around the court and at the net from both teams saw a tight third set with Guam taking it 25-20.

But CNMI countered, making a very close second set, just taking it 25-23. Though CNMI were not able to take another, with Yap playing too well in the last sets, taking them 25-17, and 25-19.

Game 4 of indoor volleyball, on day 4 of the Micronesian Games was a matchup between CNMI and Kiribati (Men’s). Having had a great beach volleyball campaign, Kiribati were looking strong going into this match. In the first set, this was obvious, as Kiribati took it 25-10. CNMI put up more of a fight in the second and third, but were unable to do much, with Kiribati winning them 25-15, and 25-17.

The third indoor volleyball was between Palau and Yap (Women’s). The first set told the story of what was to come, extremely close, with Palau just taking it 25-22. The second set was similar, with Palau winning 25-20. Though Yap were determined to fight back, and took the third 25-23. Unfortunately for Yap they were unable to take the game to a fifth set, losing to Palau 26-24 in the final set.
