NWBL: Finals action lights up this weekend The National Wheelchair Basketball League hosts their Finals Series this weekend at the Sydney Uni Sports and Aquatic Centre. Who made the playoffs? Australian Development Camp squad announced Fifty-one athletes have been selected to attend the next Australian Development Camp to be held September 22 - 25 at the Australian Institute of Sport, as part of the preparation for the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championships. Full squad list Gliders team announced for Japan series Thirteen athletes have been selected to represent Australia’s Women’s Wheelchair team in the ‘friendly’ series where national pride will be on the line. The series coincides with the Gliders 20th Anniversary Reunion. Team list and Tournament Schedule Gliders dominated the Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League awards list presented at the WNWBL Finals Series last week as the Hills Hornets took the title. Deaflympics: Geckos to face the USA Australia’s Deaf Women’s team have finished fourth in their group at the 2009 Deaflympics in Taipei, leaving them to face defending champions the USA in a difficult cross over match. Geckos Deaflympics campaign Opals and Boomers Australia's women's basketball team showed no mercy against the Tall Ferns at the AIS Arena in Canberra on September 2, downing New Zealand to clinch the 2009 FIBA Oceania Championship for Women, 97-57. More Hawks win NBL Top End Challenge The Wollongong Hawks stunned the National Basketball League by taking out the Top End Challenge pre-season tournament in Darwin with a tough 94-88 win over the more fancied New Zealand Breakers.
