Having seen both Rochester and Tatura over last week-end and despite the Tigers having one more day in preparation, your scribe is tiipping the Bulldogs to advance to the Preliminary Final. The reasons being is that Tatura will have an almost full list to select from (less Leigh OWEN) and will be fitter that the Tige's who will probably be missing a few of their regular players such as Ash WATSON, Brodie MONTAGUE and Perry OLIVER and injury clouds over a few more who will take to the wide expanses of the Benalla Showgrounds oval. Because of the perceived injury worries over the Tigers, I select Shepparton to defeat Rochester in the Reserves game and I select the Shepparton Swans to account for the Echuca Murray Bombers in the 10am game.
At Mooroopna on Sunday in the Second Semi Finals, I select the Mansfield Eagles to fly direct into the Grand Final with a hard fought but decisive win over Kyabram who will sorely miss Scott BEATTIE who has to sit this match out due to accepting the offered Set Penalty of one week suspension from an indiscretion against Jeff ANDERSON from Seymour last week at Euroa. If Mansfield can produce the form they played at against Rochester and if Kyabram can reproduce the form they displayed against Seymour, we will be in for a real beautie with a good warm 24 degrees forecast and the Mooroopna ground in good nick. Make no mistake about Mansfield on a big warm ground, they are big and strong and fit and really enjoy getting off their little cramped home ground - overall I think the Eagles will be too strong and too experienced. In the 12:05pm game I select Seymour to advance to the Grand Final with a win over Tatura and in the Under 18's I select Kyabram to defeat Rochester.
