Wayne was very humble as always in his acceptance of the award where he was singled out in front of 200+ people for his efforts in developing and promoting many young umpires to get involved in the game on the Darling Downs.
Wayne is a former AFL accredited umpire and holds the honour of umpiring the first ever Brisbane Bears game at Carrara back in 1987. Wayne has been an influential member of the Darling Downs umpiring department for the past 3 years and in his time as RUM has created a recognisable pathway for all youth umpires to progress to bigger and better things.
Wayne has also attracted more umpires both young and old to the game and given everyone the opportunity to develop their umpiring credentials in a professionally run / structured environment.
Congratulations to Wayne on a fantastic achievement and all the best to all umpires who will be doing their best in this weekends Grand Final matches.
