Congratulations to Saad SAAD from the Seymour Club who kicked a total of 89 goals for the season in the Senior Home & Away Competition. Saad also won this Thomas the Jewellers Award in season 2007 with 96 goals. It seems that Saad may have missed two games through the season which makes his game tally 16 games so if he did in fact play 16 games he has averaged 5.5 goals per game which really is a terrific effort as he probably dishes off quite a few goals as well and not always plays in the goal mouth. Damien YZE from the Shepparton Swans was runner-up with 73, then Simon HART from Mansfield with 68, Robert OSBORNE from Mooroopna with 66 and then Ricky SYMES from Benalla and Paul NEWMAN from Kyabram both on 65.
The Jack EDWARDS Award for the leading goal-kickers in the Reserves competition has been jointly won by Justin HOOPER from Kyabram and Terry DURWOOD from Tatura who both finished the season with 70 goals apeice. Last round, Justin kicked 8 against the Swans and Terry kicked 5 against the Eagles so congratulations to these two players. Brett O'DONNELL from Seymour was runner-up (or third?) having kicked 54 goals.
The powerhouse from the Shepparton Swans Anthony TAUTALA has won the Mal REID Award for booting the most goals in the Under 18 3rds Home and Away season. Anthony snagged 63 to win the award by 15 goals from Nicholas WARNOCK from Benalla who kicked 48 for the years. Congratulations to Anthony who along with Saad, Justin and Terry will receive their awards at the Morrison/Wellman vote count night on Monday 14th September.
