On Friday 28th August 2009, the Mooroopna Football Club made the official announcement that Brad CAMPBELL has been re-appointed to continue to lead the Cats as Senior Coach in the new year, Season 2010. This is a terrific vote of confidence in Brad who can now totally concentrate on the Cats finals campaign for season 2009. Mooroopna are quietly going about building on for the new year with a recruiting committee being quite active. With the Cats good win over Tatura last week-end, Mooroopna can go into the future with confidence.
Earlier in the week, all of Mansfield and district were smiling when it was announed that Craig KELLY has accepted the offer to be Senior Coach again in season 2010. Likewise as Mooroopna, the Eagles are concentrating 100% on this years finals and really who knows how far the Mountain Men can go - could they be the 2009 Premiers? Perhaps there is a little rider in Coach KELLY's re-appointment when the affable Ned has been quoted as saying "If there's no better option out there, I'm happy to go around next year - but if the club was to find someone in say a playing coach role I'd step aside. I want whats best for the club." Mansfield are currently 2nd on the GVFL ladder and by rights should retain the double chance going into the finals next week. Mansfield's success must be attributed to Craig KELLY as the Coach and his ability to not only coach but also to bond the locals with outstanding recruits Nick GIESCHEN, Tim Van Der KLOOSTER, Tim DEMETRIOU, Sam ARMSTRONG and the HART brothers Simon and Nathan and of course getting former coach David MENSCH back in the nest. There is a lot to like about Mansfield with their exciting youngsters who Craig KELLY has offered every chance and encouragement at Collingwood.
Well Done to both the Mooroopna and Mansfield clubs for the re-appointment of these top quality blokes.
