Sunday 16/8/09 saw the counting of Umpires votes for the TDJFL Under 16 Best and Fairest Award. James Cook from West End jumped to an early lead, obviously displaying some excellent early season form to have 15 votes and be a clear leader after the first 7 rounds. As the season progressed, other players gained some ground on James and with one round to go, Jack Whyhoon from Churchill had moved up to be in a tie with 21 votes apiece. Once again, it was the last card of the round, with James already receiving 3 votes, Jack needed the same, and was duly rewarded after another strong game for his team, and we had the second tie for the day.
The TDJFL congratulates both boys on their efforts this season, with Jacks Churchill team team still in the hunt with a preliminary Final this weekend, whereas James season ended last week, coincidently at the hands of Churchill.
