It may just be that the last round of the Home & Away season sorts out who claims 6th spot on the Seniors ladder. Seymour and Shepparton are neck and neck, 8 wins each but the Lions have a 24.02% buffer over the Bears.
Shepparton play Kyabram at Deakin, are away to Euroa and then last round they host Seymour at Deakin. Seymour play Tatura at home and are then away to the Shepparton Swans and then back to Shepparton for the last round against the Bears.
On Saturday 1st August up on the banks of the Murray River, Saad SAAD had another day out by kicking 10 to help Seymour score 24.11 (155) to defeat Echuca who kicked 10.9 (69). Saad has now booted 79 goals and with 3 games to go can he crack the magic ton? 3 games into 21 goals equals 7 goals per game. Can he do this against Tat., the Swans and Shepp? What odds? Mansfield had a very good win against the Shepparton Swans at Princess Park with the Eagles putting on a Hart to Hart performance. Nathan HART kicked 5, brother Simon kicked 4. Final score was Mansfield 20.24 (144) to 9.10 (64). Shepparton returned home from Benalla quite pleased with their 22 point victory over the Saints, 18.17 (125) to 16.7 (103) - Ed CLARKE and Brad RIDINGS kicked 4 each for the Bears, Ricky SYMES again performed well with 6 majors. Shepparton were particularly pleased with the performance of the lightly framed ruckman Tim EWART who up until 3 weeks ago was happy enough to be running around in the midday games but when given the task or filling in for injured Marc HARRAP he has done really well.
To conclude the Beyond Blue Round 15 Euroa take on Tatura over at the Memorial Oval - if Euroa can repeat the performance they played with against Seymour last game they could really take it up to the Bulldogs but the tipsters would have the Bullies marked as firm favourites. Shepparton United should be boosted by former champion players being at Deakin to watch the Demons take on Rochester who they defeated in the 1989 Grand Final. The Demons are holding a re-union of the '89 flag and are hoping that the Big Slab will be back to renew acquaitances and have a few beers with. But can the 2009 Demons defeat the 2009 Tigers? United have announced the re-appointment of Senior Coach Marc QUARRELL to lead them again in 2010 so could that be another factor in a Demon victory? The tipsters say "no", the Tigers should win quite well as they will be hell bent to use Deakin well in preparation for their tilt at back to back flags. Kyabram host Mooroopna under lights on Saturday night - the Bombers will sorely miss Linc WITHERS who is getting married in Darwin on Saturday with two Bomber guns in Chris ATKINS and David O'SULLIVAN up in the Territory for the happy occasion. And there is a doubt over Paul NEWMAN's fitness with a hamstring. This should be a real good clash and despite the absence of some top line players will be a match worth watching. The tipster tips Mooroopna! Then two rounds left before the finals commence.
