Tiwis' Clontarf footy academy is frontrunner for coachSPORTINGBET has framed a market for the next coach of the Tiwi Bombers ahead of the 2009/10 Northern Territory Football League season with a local islander the favourite.
The Bombers are in search of a replacement for Brenton Toy, who joins the NTFL's defending premiers St Mary's after a season guiding the Tiwi club.
Sportingbet has installed the Tiwi Islands' Clontarf Football Academy head Karl Gundersen favourite for the top job at $2, ahead of several big name potentials, including Essendon 100-game player Dean Rioli at $3.50, his uncle, the 1982 Norm Smith Medal winner Maurice Rioli at $5.50, and former Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy at a long shot at $51.
Others in the mix include Tiwi football legend Adam Keriniaua ($6), former Collingwood and Sydney forward Robbie Ah Mat ($10), and former NTFL coaches Bill Martin (Waratah) at $10 and Darren Flanagan (Southern Districts) at $41.
The Bombers board met last week to consider several applicants and discuss other related issues at its AGM.
