Walpeup/Underbool Vs Beulah
Beulah travelled up to Walpeup/Underbool in what many thought would be a classic battle. With third playing forth, a lot of pride and prestige was on the line. The Blues got away with a good start in the first quarter kicking 4 goals and 3 points to the Roos 1 goal and 3 points. Beulah kept up their intensity into the second quarter booting 2 goals and 3 points to Walpeup/Underbool 2 goals and 2 points giving the Blues a three goal lead at half time. Many thought at this stage of the game, the southerners would continue on and win the match. Unfortunately, the Roos had other plans as they roared back into contention kicking 4 goals and 2 points to Beulah 4 points. The last quarter was fought hard by both sides. Walpeup/Underbool were just too strong kicking 4 goals and 2 points to the Blues 4 goals. In the end, Walpeup/Underbool 13 goals and 9 points defeated Beulah 10 goals and 10 points. The Roos’ Darren Latta was outstanding. Mick Pole and Matthew Lynch played well along with Kane Munro who kicked 5 goals for Walpeup/Underbool. Tim Hill was Beulah’s best. Tom Hallam, Brendan McCredden and Steph Saunders all worked hard for the Blues.
Ouyen United Vs Woomelang/Lascelles
Ouyen United played at home against Woomelang/Lascelles on Saturday. The first quarter was a tough battle with the Demons not kicking so straight. They led at quarter time 2 goals and 7 points to the Cats 2 goals. They made up for it in the second quarter kicking a massive 9 straight goals to Woomelang/Lascelles 2 points. Ouyen United kept their form as they scored 7 goals and 3 points to the Cats 4 goals and 3 points. The Demons worked hard in the last quarter to restrict Woomelang/Lascelles from a comeback. The Demons kicked 6 goals and 1 point to the Cats 1 goal. The final score was Ouyen United 24 goals and 11 points to Woomelang/Lascelles 7 goals and 5 points. Danny O’Bree kicked a terrific 8 goals for the Demons. Keiran O’Shannessy, Darren Old and Brenton Jardine all contributed. The Cats’ Troy Blythman was the best player for Woomelang/Lascelles. Royce Free, Travis James and Ned Duthie worked hard all match.
Jeparit/Rainbow Vs Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers
Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers played against Jeparit/Rainbow at Rainbow on Saturday. The Tigers got a good start in the first quarter kicking 5 goals and 5 points to the Lakers 1 goal and 1 point. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers continued their form kicking 8 goals and 4 points to Jeparit/Rainbow no score. The Tigers were on fire as their kicked 6 goals and 6 points to the Lakers 4 points in the third quarter. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers weren’t slowing down in the last quarter. They kicked 9 goals and 5 points to Jeparit/Rainbow 4 points. At the end of the match, Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers 28 goals and 20 points defeated Jeparit/Rainbow 1 goal and 8 points. Nathan Wight was unstoppable for the Tigers kicking a massive 11 goals. Darcy Ryan and Scott Weekley were strong in the mid-field. Liam Barry played well on the wing. The Lakers’ Simon Clugston played well in the backline. Heath Clugston and Ash Clugston tried hard in the mid-field and Brett Fisher worked hard in the backline.
