The Speed Field Days Mallee Football League is getting down to the bottom end of the draw and matches are becoming more crucial to win. Teams are starting to make the decision of how many games are needed to be won to secure them a spot in the finals.
Ouyen United Vs Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers
Ouyen United will play at home against Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers this week. In their last match playing each other, the Tigers kept a steady lead all four quarters. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers won the game by 48 points. Ouyen United had the bye last week. The week before, the Demons played a close match against Jeparit/Rainbow. Ouyen United were losing until the last quarter where they fought back and stole the match. Damien Hall was fantastic for the Demons. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers had a good win against Beulah at Culgoa last Saturday. The Tigers struggled in the third quarter however, kept a good lead on the Blues through to the end. The Tigers’ Darcy Ryan worked hard all match. With the home advantage, Ouyen United should beat Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers in what will be a very exciting match.
Hopetoun Vs Beulah
Hopetoun have a home game this week playing against Beulah. The Blues only just won their match against the Devils back in round 6. After being even at the end of the third quarter, Beulah were victorious by just 2 goals. Hopetoun had a disappointing loss against Walpeup/Underbool last week. The Devils recovered beautifully after going down in the first quarter. Hopetoun fought back and only loss the game by 16 points. The Devils’ Owen Hone continues to show much talent. Beulah played away to Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers last week. The Blues came back in the last half but unfortunately the Tigers were just too good. Dale Shannon from Beulah played a great game for his side. Beulah should account for Hopetoun in their match this week.
Woomelang/Lascelles Vs Walpeup/Underbool
Walpeup/Underbool play away against Woomelang/Lascelles this week at Woomelang. The Roos had a very good win in their last match against the Cats. Walpeup/Underbool were strong all four quarters and won the match by 101 points. The Roos played their last match against Hopetoun at home. Walpeup/Underbool had a rough third quarter and were nearly beaten by some very determined Devils. The Roos won the match by 16 points. Chris Vorwerk was a key player for the Roos. Woomelang/Lascelles had a yo-yo effect on their game against Jeparit/Rainbow. The Cats were up in the first quarter, then down in the second, followed by a 1 point lead at the end of the third. Woomelang/Lascelles were unfortunately to keep the win in the last quarter going down by 16 points. The Cats’ Joel Donnan was outstanding all game. Walpeup/Underbool should win their match against Woomelang/Lascelles.
