A big pat on the back and a big WELL DONE to the Seymour Football / Nebtall Club in hosting the VCFL WorkSafe Match of the Round at Kings Park last Saturday. Lead by President Trevor GUNN, the Seymour club really promoted themselves and the Goulburn Valley Football League in an outstanding manner. The organisation leading up to Saturday with the preparation of the social rooms & facilities, the food, the invites, the sound system, the staff etc., etc. and to come together so well and obviously for the Seymour people, to cap of the day with a 4 point victory over Rochester and to get into the top 6 was very fitting and rewarding. Over 120 persons were seated for the terrific soup and main course that was provided by the Seymour people with the VCFL and WorkSafe sponsoring the day. It was fantastic to have a terrific cross section of people present including a great roll up by the President of the Rochester club Darren GLEDHILL and his troops. The VCFL Events & Promotions Manager Jock ALLAN did a sterling job in setting up this day but was virtually unable to croak out a whisper as midday approached due to a bad throat. In stepped the VCFL Marketing Manager Ryan WEBB who very competently chaired the luncheon to introduce the CEO Mr Glenn SCOTT and a Director of WorkSafe Victoria Mr Ross PILKINGTON. Ryan introduced Trevor GUNN who really kicked home the importance of footy and netball and carried the Work Safe message. Ryan then introduced Ronald Dale BARASSI who was just marvellous. Barass. asked for a show of hands for those people present who were not born in Victoria - about 6 or 7 indicated they had been born outside our wonderful State. Barass. had just in the week leading up to Saturday been appointed Victorian of the Year. To hear Ron speak and share his joy to be involved in our great game made a bloke feel truly proud to a Victorian and be involved in our game. Life couldn't be much better after the lunch and then to witness a really good game between last years Grand Finalists with Seymour getting up in the last minute to keep their finals hopes alive was like the icing on the cake. Ron presented Paul COLBERT from the Seymour club with the VCFL WorkSafe medal as a well deserved best on ground and from the drawn A Grade netball game Karryn GENT from Seymour received the best on court medal and a kiss from the great man. A fair dinkum real good day - Congratulations Seymour - Well Done! Also a big thank you to Glenn SCOTT, Jock ALLAN, Ryan WEBB and the other VCFL and WorkSafe staff who organised the day and spread the WorkSafe word. If in the future your club has the opportunity to host one of these VCFL WorkSafe Match of the Month games then really do what you can to get the game because it will be very rewarding.
