The Box Hill Hawks notched up their 5th win for the season beating Bendigo Bombers by 47 points at Windy Hill.
Rainfall pounded down as the Hawks in control right throughout moved to victory through forward pocket dynamo Ben Smithwick (17 possessions 3 goals) and brilliant work by Sam Iles (29 touches) in the midfield.
Tom German and Andrew Welsh stood up for Bendigo working tirelessly moving the ball in and out of the center in a game where Box Hill had all the answers.
Leading at every change, Box Hill never looked like being beaten in a tough clash marred by Bendigo’s inability to hit targets are crucial times.
After a slow start, Box Hill ran riot with six answered goals. Making the break Bendigo never was able to recover the deficit trailing at every point in time.
Looking dangerous at every forward entry Box Hill unstoppable tirelessly continued to work building their lead.
Box Hill’s greater hunger for the football with its physical attack showed constantly being rewarded at every opportunity.
Apart from Smithwick and Iles, Hawthorn backman Rick Ladson (22 touches) coming back from a knee injury led from the front in defence.
Ed Curnow (23 touches) through the centre with his strong tackling game and forward set-up was vital in the Hawks victory. Chiming in with two goals Sam Gibson (24 touches) continues to show his worth again one of the best for Box Hill.
Darcy Daniher, Jarrod Atkinson (defensively who was great with tough competition) and James Bristow (1 goal) who presented endlessly up forward and helped out around the ground showed the growing talent pool of youth at Bomberland.
Box Hill move into 6th position on the VFL Ladder its best start to the season after nine rounds since the 2005 home and away season. Bendigo still remains winless but is able to re-establish their thoughts with the bye in Round 10.
Next Sunday 21st June undefeated at home Box Hill Hawks host Sandringham at Box Hill City Oval.
