The Box Hill Hawks have praised the recent induction of club great Bill Morris into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
The Box Hil Hawks posted a note on its club website about the elevation stating:
"Morris not only had a distinguished VFL career at Richmond, won the Brownlow Medal and represented the Big V, but also made an enormous contribution to the VFA competition and was one of the greatest ever players – if not the greatest player – to pull on a Box Hill jumper.
Bill was captain coach of this Club in 1952, 1953 and 1954 in just our 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons in the VFA. Each year he won the Club’s best and fairest by the length of the straight. His career statistics at Box Hill were 57 games and 108 goals.
He is unquestionably the most important player from the clubs' early years in this competition. In 2000 he was named as first ruck and vice captain in Box Hill's Team of the Century.
Vale the late, great Bill Morris – a champion player for both the Richmond and Box Hill Football Clubs."
